Please note I mistakenly read the enrollment date as January 1, 1968, when I said that Obama was 7 1/2 years old. The date was written as 1-8-68, but that is August 1, 1968, just 3 days before his 7th birthday, and still late for most children enter the 1st grade at age 6. Also I’ve learned that line 6 is the school’s kindergarten class, so it appears that little Barry had to repeat kindergarten in Indonesia, which put him a grade behind his friends in Hawaii. Upon his return, he entered the 5th grade, when he should have been entering the 4th. Perhaps this is why he never learned how many states we have?

Slip of the tongue or momentary confusion? In a television interview today discussing his religion, Sen. Barack Obama stated, “My Muslim faith.”
Obama, speaking to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” was talking about what he described as “smears” that were claiming he was a Muslim when he maintains he is a practicing Christian.
“Let’s not play games,” Obama stated. “What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come.”
Stephanopoulos immediately interrupted Obama, stating, “Christian faith.”
“My Christian faith,” Obama quickly said. “Well, what I’m saying is that he (McCain) hasn’t suggested that I’m a Muslim. And I think that his campaign’s upper echelons have not, either. What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I’m not who I say I am when it comes to my faith — something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time.”
The statements came amid an exchange in which Obama accused Republicans of spreading “lies” that he is a Muslim. McCain, though, has strongly condemned such accusations.
“These guys love to throw a rock and hide their hand,” Obama said.
But Stephanopoulos corrected the Illinois senator, stating, “The McCain campaign has never suggested you have Muslim connections.”
Obama replied: “I don’t think that when you look at what is being promulgated on Fox News, let’s say, and Republican commentators who are closely allied to these folks.”
“But John McCain said that’s wrong,” Stephanopoulos shot back.
Obama’s momentary slip was immediately picked up by scores of Internet blogs.

I researching this I was unable to find a copy of this enrollment form. If anyone can send me a link that would be great. Many articles state that another prior school is listed on this form-but no one states the name of that school. It is evident that the Catholic school was the second of three schools attended by Obama. Although he still maintains he only attended two
schools he states that the Catholic school was the second one. This is clearly a lie.
Paul Watson of the Los Angeles Times learned from Indonesians familiar with Obama when he lived in Jakarta that he “was registered by his family as a Muslim at both schools he attended.” Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star visited the Jakarta public school Obama attended and found that “Three of his teachers have said he was enrolled as a Muslim.”

No doubt many will point out that the garb worn by Obama is not proof that he is a Muslim. The point is that Malik states that his brother Barack is a Muslim and then holds the picture as proof of this. Also Maya-Obama’s sister states that her whole family was Muslim. A correct translation of the title of Obama’s book would have been “Keberanian Harapan: Pemikiran Untuk Meraih Kembali Impian America” which translates into “Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming The American Dream”. However, the title for the Indonesian translation of Barack Obama’s book is “Menerjang Harapan: Dari Jakarta Menuju Gedung Putih” which translates into “Assault Hope (Jihad): From Jakarta to the White House”.
The problem with direct translations is that often times they never make sense. The words “menerjang” (assault or attack) and “harapan” (hope or expectation) make sense when used separately, but used together, the term “menerjang harapan” makes no sense in Indonesian. But while the term makes no sense, it does however present a mental picture to the native Indonesian speaker, the imagery of a “hopeful ault” a “struggle for victory” or to put it more bluntly, a “jihad”, or as the Indonesians see it, Obama’s “jihad” for the Whitehouse. For the native Indonesian speaker, this figurative language creates a mental image whereas the translation of the book’s title can actually come to mean “Jihad: From Jakarta To The Whitehouse”.
