Just an FYI, I thought you guys might enjoy this e-mail I got this morning from one of my Democrat friends. I’ve been nagging all kinds of people to get out and vote for Scott Brown. If this is indicative of how most Democrats feel, then I think Obama better give up any hope of re-election in 2012.
Thanks for sharing – very cool that you went to the rally. I’ve been receiving many calls because I am currently registered as Democrat – Obama, Clinton, etc. saying that they hope to count on my support for Coakley. We’ve also received several calls from various groups of the Democratic party (probably 6-8) and all are baffled when they ask “so we can count on your support” and I say “ABSOLUTELY NOT – ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – MY VOTE GOES TO BROWN.” Then it’s “uh…. ok.. goodbye.” As for Tom… sadly, the man NEVER registered to vote yet here in Massachusetts. I tried to get him an absentee ballot since elections are always on Tuesdays and he leaves before 4am Tuesday morning and doesn’t get back until 7:15pm or so. I said “shame on you” – I never realized that he didn’t register. I have the paperwork to submit for him to register, as well as paperwork for me to change my party registration.
I sure hope Brown wins. He has a lot of momentum going for him, and I think the Democrats are scared if they have Clinton and Obama speaking on her behalf in the last 48 hours. What I DID NOT LIKE is the news this morning said that the Democrats are always working on some plan where Obama can sign the Health Care Bill WITHOUT the extra Senate seat vote. I’m not sure how they can, but it was VERY clear on the news this morning. Criminal politics – and so “in your face” this term. And how about the latest where Obama met with the Union leaders where they said (behind closed doors… soo much for transparancy) ‘we put you in office, now you have to scratch our backs’ so Obama has made it so the Union are EXEMPT from paying the anticipated 40% (yes, thats the number I heard over and over again) excise tax on the Health Care. Meaning…. if we have BCBS and the Union workers have BCBS (same plan, but different companies that buy into it), then we WOULD pay the extra 40% for Health Care and Union workers would not. How is that fair? As one of the senators said this weekend “If the Health Care bill is SOOO good, how come we need to buy everyone’s vote to attempt to get it passed?” He is sooo right. It’s bribery and is SOOO not fair. Many of the states have “perks” to get their votes (none as extreme as Nebraska), and it is AMAZING to me to hear people like my father in law who STILL think that the new Health Care system will be better because it will allow him to have better care and get some tests he currently cannot get. Not sure what those are, but he’s a union guy, so TOTALLY Democrat. The polls show that American’s are not happy about the new health care bill… why isn’t Washington listening to that? Aren’t they supposed to do whats best for the American people… not something that they MUST get through or they will look bad- don’t bother reading it (which by the way if something is 1500 pages, then it isn’t good in my opinion) – just vote how the party will vote so we are a “team.” Many republican senators bring up EXCELLENT points, and the Democrats just ignore it and give NO answers… and Nancy Pelosi… don’t even get me started on her…. bleech!
I’m pretty pissed off about all this stuff as I think you are too – I have a few friends who just don’t want to deal with any of it – they say that they are just one person and nothing can be done. That’s how we got to this point, and I’m sorry to say that I am one of those people that (as you know) did vote for Obama because I thought he was going to be the ‘middle guy’ who looks out for the people to get away from all the politics and crimes of Washington. BOY WAS I WRONG. I couldn’t have envisioned it would be this bad!! He really took it and ran THE WRONG WAY! Shame on me. It was just hard because while I liked McCain, he was just tooooo old and with Palin as the VP, I didn’t feel comfortable at all in the event that McCain became ill or died. I think Palin is a good person and I do like her, but she was totally unqualified to be President. I was on the fence, but just didn’t feel comfortable with McCain/Palin and felt Obama wouldn’t be so DAMN left wing. Why didn’t McCain pick someone like Romney???
I know it is what it is, but it pisses me off how the Senators are “good boy clubs” – by that I mean both Republicans and Democrats. Yes, there are those Senators that are really looking out for Americans, but there are also those who just vote for the party. You know “you’re one of us” and they get pressured by their own party and blacklisted internally if they don’t “do the right thing” so they really don’t have a voice so to speak. There are those bills that seem to make sense, but have this “extra” on it which is totally unrelated, so some Senators may feel it isn’t good, but the “party” says “this is what we are voting for” and then in the end it’s “Senator X didn’t vote for education” or something like that…. well maybe the bill had an additional piece to give tobacco farmers 10 million dollars – they never mention that. Why can’t it be more clear – and WE voted these people into office and WE pay their salaries. Why can’t WE (Americans) have a say in fixing all of this stuff. Again, it is what it is and we did set up the system as such…. but I don’t think long ago they expected it to be so criminal.
How about the Brown commercial where they have the one guy saying “what is Washington without lobbyists” and laughing and laughing, then shows Coakley meeting with the lobbyists. Personally I think it’s a great commercial!
I hope that in November all these Democratic Senators that are up for election lose – that would send a CLEAR message to Washington that American’s are pissed off with the decisions being made.
On a Haiti note…. did you know that a portion of our tax dollars go to Haiti every year? Limbaugh pointed that out after the earthquake and Stephanopolis and other newscasters said “yes, X amount of money from our tax dollars goes to help Haiti every year.” Why do we do that? In light of the earthquake, they do need help (I think Obama sent 100 million), but in better times, why did we do that, especially with so many out of work and losing their homes? Now, I don’t mean to be uncaring because I know the Haitians have VERY LITTLE and really need the help – do ALL countries do this, or just the USA?
