Obama and ‘Redistributive Change’

Obama and ‘Redistributive Change’
Forget the recession and the “uninsured.” Obama has bigger fish to fry.

By Victor Davis Hanson

The first seven months of the Obama administration seemingly make no sense. Why squander public approval by running up astronomical deficits in a time of pre-existing staggering national debt?
Why polarize opponents after promising bipartisan transcendence?
Why create vast new programs when the efficacy of big government is already seen as dubious?

But that is exactly the wrong way to look at these first seven months of Obamist policy-making.

Take increased federal spending and the growing government absorption of GDP. Given the resiliency of the U.S. economy, it would have been easy to ride out the recession. In that case we would still have had to deal with a burgeoning and unsustainable annual federal deficit that would have approached $1 trillion.
Instead, Obama may nearly double that amount of annual indebtedness with more federal stimuli and bailouts, newly envisioned cap-and-trade legislation, and a variety of fresh entitlements. Was that fiscally irresponsible? Yes, of course.

But I think the key was not so much the spending excess or new entitlements. The point instead was the consequence of the resulting deficits, which will require radically new taxation for generations. If on April 15 the federal and state governments, local entities, the Social Security system, and the new health-care programs can claim 70 percent of the income of the top 5 percent of taxpayers, then that is considered a public good — every bit as valuable as funding new programs, and one worth risking insolvency.

Individual compensation is now seen as arbitrary and, by extension, inherently unfair. A high income is now rationalized as having less to do with market-driven needs, acquired skills, a higher level of education, innate intelligence, inheritance, hard work, or accepting risk. Rather income is seen more as luck-driven, cruelly capricious, unfair — even immoral, in that some are rewarded arbitrarily on the basis of race, class, and gender advantages, others for their overweening greed and ambition, and still more for their quasi-criminality.

“Patriotic” federal healers must then step in to “spread the wealth.” Through redistributive tax rates, they can “treat” the illness that the private sector has caused. After all, there is no intrinsic reason why an auto fabricator makes $60 in hourly wages and benefits, while a young investment banker finagles $500.

Or, in the president’s own language, the government must equalize the circumstances of the “waitress” with those of the “lucky.” It is thus a fitting and proper role of the new federal government to rectify imbalances of compensation — at least for those outside the anointed Guardian class. In a 2001 interview Obama in fact outlined the desirable political circumstances that would lead government to enforce equality of results when he elaborated on what he called an “actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change.”

Still, why would intelligent politicians try to ram through, in mere weeks, a thousand pages of health-care gibberish — its details outsourced to far-left elements in the Congress (and their staffers) — that few in the cabinet had ever read or even knew much about?

Once again, I don’t think health care per se was ever really the issue. When pressed, no one in the administration seemed to know whether illegal aliens were covered. Few cared why young people do not divert some of their entertainment expenditures to a modest investment in private catastrophic coverage.

Warnings that Canadians already have their health care rationed, wait in long lines, and are denied timely and critical procedures also did not seem to matter. And no attention was paid to statistics suggesting that, if we exclude homicides and auto accidents, Americans live as long on average as anyone in the industrial world, and have better chances of surviving longer with heart disease and cancer. That the average American did not wish to radically alter his existing plan, and that he understood that the uninsured really did have access to health care, albeit in a wasteful manner at the emergency room, was likewise of no concern.

The issue again was larger, and involved a vast reinterpretation of how America receives health care.  Whether more or fewer Americans would get better or worse access and cheaper or more expensive care, or whether the government can or cannot afford such new entitlements, oddly seemed largely secondary to the crux of the debate.

Instead, the notion that the state will assume control, in Canada-like fashion, and level the health-care playing field was the real concern. “They” (the few) will now have the same care as “we” (the many). Whether the result is worse or better for everyone involved is extraneous, since sameness is the overarching principle.

We can discern this same mandated egalitarianism beneath many of the administration’s recent policy initiatives. Obama is not a pragmatist, as he insisted, nor even a liberal, as charged.

Rather, he is a statist. The president believes that a select group of affluent, highly educated technocrats — cosmopolitan, noble-minded, and properly progressive — supported by a phalanx of whiz-kids fresh out of blue-chip universities with little or no experience in the marketplace, can direct our lives far better than we can ourselves. By “better” I do not mean in a fashion that, measured by disinterested criteria, makes us necessarily wealthier, happier, more productive, or freer.

Instead, “better” means “fairer,” or more “equal.” We may “make” different amounts of money, but we will end up with more or less similar net incomes. We may know friendly doctors, be aware of the latest procedures, and have the capital to buy blue-chip health insurance, but no matter. Now we will all alike queue up with our government-issued insurance cards to wait our turn at the ubiquitous corner clinic.

None of this equality-of-results thinking is new.

When radical leaders over the last 2,500 years have sought to enforce equality of results, their prescriptions were usually predictable: redistribution of property; cancellation of debts; incentives to bring out the vote and increase political participation among the poor; stigmatizing of the wealthy, whether through the extreme measure of ostracism or the more mundane forced liturgies; use of the court system to even the playing field by targeting the more prominent citizens; radical growth in government and government employment; the use of state employees as defenders of the egalitarian faith; bread-and-circus entitlements; inflation of the currency and greater national debt to lessen the power of accumulated capital; and radical sloganeering about reactionary enemies of the new state.

The modern versions of much of the above already seem to be guiding the Obama administration — evident each time we hear of another proposal to make it easier to renounce personal debt; federal action to curtail property or water rights; efforts to make voter registration and vote casting easier; radically higher taxes on the top 5 percent; takeover of private business; expansion of the federal government and an increase in government employees; or massive inflationary borrowing. The current class-warfare “them/us” rhetoric was predictable.

Usually such ideologies do not take hold in America, given its tradition of liberty, frontier self-reliance, and emphasis on personal freedom rather than mandated fraternity and egalitarianism. At times, however, the stars line up, when a national catastrophe, like war or depression, coincides with the appearance of an unusually gifted, highly polished, and eloquent populist. But the anointed one must be savvy enough to run first as a centrist in order later to govern as a statist.

Given the September 2008 financial meltdown, the unhappiness over the war, the ongoing recession, and Barack Obama’s postracial claims and singular hope-and-change rhetoric, we found ourselves in just such a situation. For one of the rare times in American history, statism could take hold, and the country could be pushed far to the left.

That goal is the touchstone that explains the seemingly inexplicable — and explains also why, when Obama is losing independents, conservative Democrats, and moderate Republicans, his anxious base nevertheless keeps pushing him to become even more partisan, more left-wing, angrier, and more in a hurry to rush things through. They understand the unpopularity of the agenda and the brief shelf life of the president’s charm. One term may be enough to establish lasting institutional change.

Obama and his supporters at times are quite candid about such a radical spread-the-wealth agenda, voiced best by Rahm Emanuel — “You don’t ever want a crisis to go to waste; it’s an opportunity to do important things that you would otherwise avoid” — or more casually by Obama himself — “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

So we move at breakneck speed in order not to miss this rare opportunity when the radical leadership of the Congress and the White House for a brief moment clinch the reins of power. By the time a shell-shocked public wakes up and realizes that the prescribed chemotherapy is far worse than the existing illness, it should be too late to revive the old-style American patient.

Barrack Obama Kills The Fly like a Ninja swat Live in TV !! :) )

President Barack Obama, annoyed by a fly during a television interview at the White House, took matters into his own hands by killing it.

Mr Obama told the persistent fly: Get out of here.

It did not. So Mr Obama waited for the fly to settle and then smacked the fly dead at the first attempt.

Without missing a beat, the president said to CNBC correspondent John Harwood: Now, where were we. That was pretty impressive, wasnt it? I got the sucker.

The camera crew was still rolling in the East Room. Mr Obama pointed to the vanquished insect on the floor and said: You want to film that?

Moslem Barrack Hussein Obama Reads Reciting Koran , Knows The Worth of Turkey and Islam Quran hillary clinton eurovision song contest

CAIRO (Reuters) – President Barack Obama sought to change Muslim perceptions of the United States on Thursday in a speech that urged Arabs and Israelis to declare in public the realities he said they accept in private.

Addressing the world’s more than 1 billion Muslims from Cairo, Obama called for a “new beginning” in ties between Washington and the Islamic world in his speech that also tackled grievances over two U.S.-led wars and tensions over Iran.

Some Muslims welcomed Obama’s fresh tone after George W. Bush’s departure even as others expressed frustration that he failed to outline specific changes to U.S. policy, reflecting skepticism in the region Obama must still overcome.

In his keynote speech, occasionally interrupted by shouts of “we love you,” Obama said he did not want U.S. troops to stay in Iraq or Afghanistan forever and offered mutual respect in seeking to resolve differences with long-time foe, Tehran.

“We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world — tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate,” Obama said in the address that included quotes from Islam’s holy book, the Koran.

“I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect,” he said. “America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition.”

“This cycle of suspicion and discord must end,” he said.

Highlighting hostility the U.S. leader faces from some quarters, al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, in a message on a website, warned Muslims against alliance with Christians and Jews, saying it would annul their faith.

The supreme leader of Washington’s regional arch foe, Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said before Obama spoke that America was “deeply hated” and only action, not “slogans,” could change that.

The choice of Cairo for the speech underscored Obama’s focus on the Middle East, where he faces big foreign policy challenges, from trying to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks to curbing Iran’s nuclear plans that Washington says is to build atomic bombs. Tehran denies any such aims.

His trip included touring a 14th century mosque and the pyramids in the desert on the edge of Cairo. He was seen off at the airport, walking up the red carpet in the t-shirt and trousers he wore while visiting the ancient pharaonic sites.

Time for change?

On August 28, 2009, in Uncategorized, by admin
At the TEA PARTY, a black man, Dr. Donald May, delivered this message from the courthouse steps in Lubbock .   He electrified the audience like I haven’t seen in a long time.   His delivery was masterful.   I am sorry you could not see him in action.   Anyway, I thought you might enjoy his words.   The news media was there, but not one word of this man’s appearance ever appeared on TV or in print, even though he completely dominated the scene.

This is A Time For Courage
April 15, 2009 – 11:49 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, This is a Time For Courage.

We are gathered here today on the Plains of West Texas in common purpose. We are here to remind our government that this is our country.  We the People are still in charge, and our government is still our servant and not our master.

Our Nation’s founding document is The Declaration of Independence ..  It tells us that our rights come from God and not from a small group of Elite men and women.

Our Constitution starts with the words “We the People.”  Our Constitution was written for ordinary Americans like you and me.  Our Constitution protects us from our government and from the politicians.

Our President has complained that our Constitution gives ordinary people too much protection.  He has ridiculed us for the high value we place on our Bibles, our guns, our personal property, and our Liberty ..  He tells us we do not deserve to keep the money we have earned.

We are told freedom has not worked.  Personal responsibility, free enterprise, and Liberty have not been effective.  Our government will now make more of our decisions for us.  Other than our military, I can think of not one government agency I have ever found to be helpful.

And speaking of our military, how about those Navy Seals blowing the heads off those three terrorist pirates?  Don’t you just wish our entire government would function with such efficiency, professionalism, and courage?

We watch in disbelief as our beloved United States is weakened economically, militarily, and morally by a Radical President and his eager accomplices.  What has taken generations to build is systematically destroyed and replaced with the same Socialist Evil that brought poverty, destruction, and despair to untold hundreds of millions.

The problems we face today have occurred because we have not defended our Nation from Socialism.  For too long we have allowed the wrong people to make the worst possible decisions.

The Bible warns us of class hatred.  The Radical leadership of our government daily fans the evil flames of class envy.

Our European and Canadian friends beg us to not make the same Socialist mistakes they did.  The President of the European Union warned our President that his Socialist economic plans are taking the World down the “road to Hell.”

The path to power for Socialists includes taking God and guns from the citizens.  Without spiritual and physical protection, people cannot defend themselves and their Liberty ..  They soon become slaves.

We are angered that our President apologizes for the exceptionalism and heroism of the United States of America .  We are deeply troubled that he told others the United States is not a Christian nation..

We are angered that we have been called cowards and racists because we oppose Socialism.  Socialism is not racial.  Socialism is an equal opportunity destroyer..

We are angered that a recent Department of Homeland Security report has singled out our military men and women who are returning home as being radical threats.  The report also characterizes you and me as right-wing extremists and radicals because we favor smaller government and lower taxes.

You and I are average citizens who believe just like most of our fellow Americans..  We want our government to leave us alone and to keep its hands off our money, our religion, or guns, our private property, and our lives.

We demand that our government stop spending money it does not have.
Stop confiscating our money and private property.
Stop printing money..
Stop subsidizing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the other failed financial institutions and companies.
Mr. President, stop appointing tax cheats to positions of power and influence.
Mr. President, secure our borders.
Mr. President, do not divert money from our missile defense, F-22 Raptors, and other vital military equipment. This gives encouragement, aid, and comfort to our enemies.  Protecting us is your number one job.
Mr. President, do not give voting rights to millions of illegal aliens and felons.  You have no more right to create new voters for your benefit than you do to use our money to buy the 2010 and 2012 Elections.

We gather peacefully here today because there is a growing concern for what our government is doing to us and to our future.  We fear for the very survival of our Republic.  Yet there is much to make us hopeful and to fill our hearts with optimism and courage.  This is still our country!

The Constitution of the Unites States belongs to We the People.  Our Constitution still protects us from our government.

Call every possible elected official, including our President, Vice President, and the Speaker of the House.
Demand that they stop stealing our money and giving it to ACORN and their other political supporters in order to buy votes.
Call Senators Cornyn and Hutchison, and Representative Neugebauer.  Thank them.  Urge them to do much more.  Remind them now is a time for action and not for campaigning.
Volunteer to work on our 2010 Census.  Confront ACORN.  Keep our Census honest…  We must not allow our President to take control of our Census for his political advantage.
We must replace as much of our Far Left Congress as possible in 2010.  Get involved…  Do not let the ACORN control our 2010 Election.

Talk with someone every day who does not understand our nation’s history and our great heritage.  Tell them why the United States is a good and prosperous nation.  It still remains that brightly lit city on the hill.  It still is the best hope for all mankind..

Talk with all of the young people you can find.  They are our future.  Many do not understand what they have and that their future is being destroyed.

Encourage your elected State officials to pass legislation that will protect us from our Federal government. This is a time for strong peaceful action.  Let us pray that We the People can quickly return our government to its Constitutional responsibilities.

Our President and Congress were elected to be our servants and not our masters.

May God help our President and Congress to quickly realize the error of their ways and stop their reckless and unwarranted spending, cut our taxes, and reduce the size of our Federal bureaucracy.  If they do not, may God grant us the courage and determination to vote them out of power next year.  May God richly bless and protect each of you, and our Constitution, as together we pursue Liberty !

Delivered at the Lubbock , Texas , TEA Party  by Dr. Donald May

This should be on the front page of every newspaper in the USA instead of being swept under the rug and kept off the news broadcasts.  Our news media sucks, plain and simple. They are not “reporting the news,”– they are telling us what THEY want us to hear and that  is not reporting the news.   One more step toward Socialism.    Let’s keep this going so everyone will know the truth.

Rev Wright = Obama Wrong!

On August 26, 2009, in Uncategorized, by admin

No person that has a positive opinion or desire for the success for the U.S. would sit in the hatred filled, racist, anti-American services of Rev. Wright for 20 years and even expose his children to the that. If you look at it in this light, every country-destroying move he has made makes perfect sense. He even gets it that the producers in this country will eventually get enough and get off our asses and shut him and his band of miscreants down. That’s why he has this sense of urgency to do as much damage as possible as quickly as he can.

Once upon a time…

On August 26, 2009, in Uncategorized, by admin

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of the desert. Congress said, “someone may steal from it at night.” So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, “How does the watchman do his job without instruction?” So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, “How will we know the night watchman is doing The Tasks correctly?” So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, “How are these people going to get paid?” So They created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, Then hired two people.

Then Congress said, “Who will be accountable for all of these people?” So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, “We have had this Department in operation for one Year and we are $12,000,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost.”

So they fired the night watchman.

NOW slowly.

Let it sink in.

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY …. During the Carter Administration?

Anybody?

No?

Bottom line. We’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency … the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember!

Ready?? It was very simple … and, at the time, everybody thought it Very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977. TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND, NOW, IT’S 2009 — 32 YEARS LATER — AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS ”NECESSARY” DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND, LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, “WHAT WERE WE THINKING?”

Ah, yes — good ole bureaucracy.

And, NOW, we are going to turn the banking system, HEALTH CARE and the auto industry over to the same Government?

The British Health Care System has become the 3rd largest employer in the world, behind the Chinese Red Army and the Rail Road System in India . The Brits have many times more administrators than doctors or nurses. No wonder they have to ration health care and deny treatment to the elderly.
